County Attorney's Office
The Miami-Dade County Attorney's Office is a unique "in-house" civil law firm representing Miami-Dade County, Florida, one of the largest counties in the United States.  The size and scope of the County’s governance place the Office on the leading edge of complex issues confronting our society.  The Office offers both challenges and rewards in a very high-caliber law practice that is second to none in either the public or private sector.  Although lawyers in our Office practice in virtually every substantive area of civil law, we do not practice criminal law.

The Office comprises a County Attorney, a First Assistant County Attorney, and approximately 75 Assistant County Attorneys.  Lawyers in our Office have achieved academic success at some of the nation’s most elite law schools.  A high percentage of our attorneys are former law clerks to federal and state judges, and many Assistant County Attorneys worked for major law firms or other government agencies prior to joining the Office.  Several of our alumni currently serve as federal and state judges, and many others have served as state legislators, city and county attorneys in other jurisdictions, and presidents of bar organizations, including the Florida Bar and the National Bar Association.  Additionally, many of our lawyers serve as adjunct faculty members at local law schools.

The Office thrives on an atmosphere of cooperation.  Each attorney is treated as a partner with significant influence over the manner in which his or her cases or matters are handled, and all attorneys are presented the opportunity to assume responsibility in both litigation and non-litigation matters.  Our Office has exceptionally low turnover, and as such, we encourage collaboration, as well as the utilization of the intellectual resources available among peers.
